Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435 Collapsible Tabletop Ironing Board Review

Most clothes need some good ironing after going through a rough cycle of being tossed around and rinsed in the washing machine to get rid of any wrinkles accumulated. It’s simply part of our bi-weekly routines, but it’s most often unwelcome. Ironing boards are usually heavy and a hassle to set up because of the annoying legs. I must say, after ten years of trying to figure them out, I still haven’t devised an effective technique to get mine standing in one swift motion. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

Luckily, in our present-day, there are a lot of innovations put out on the market when it comes to household appliances like the ironing board. I purchased one that claims to be lightweight and perfect for mothers like me who dislike having to deal with our old, wobbly ironing boards every time ironing is needed.

The Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435 Collapsible Tabletop Ironing Board comes in a refreshing shade of blue-green and white, and is designed to avoid the inconveniences I’ve grown accustomed to with my old ironing board.

I have been using the Honey-Can-Do ironing board for a few weeks now, so I think I have gathered enough observations to form an opinion for a solid review. Here it is.

When I first saw the ironing board, I was immediately delighted because of its small size and the cool color of the cover. It came in this greenish-blue shade (aqua blue, the descriptions say) and had white stands. There was something about the palette that made it so homey – I liked that.

Then of course, the size. It was small and short! A welcome change from my ten-year-old ironing board that I felt weighed about half of my own body weight. Just from my first impressions, I already knew that no matter how this performed, I would like it a lot better than the old one anyway.

Every time I use the Honey-Can-Do, I just set it up on the floor and prop a pillow that I can sit on while ironing. It reaches the perfect height that makes everything so easy and comfortable. With my old ironing board, I had to iron while standing up the whole time and it gave me terrible lower back pain afterward. Thanks to HCD, I no longer experience that.

It’s also very sturdy and stays upright no matter what I do. I can get a little too rattled when I’m ironing clothes sometimes, especially when I’m in a rush, and you would think this would flip it over, but it didn’t. It stayed strong even with some pressure. The wide surface also makes ironing quick.

I think I’ve been ironing a few minutes less than my usual time because it covers a huge area at once. It’s small, yet packs a punch!

Now, let’s talk about the retractable rack for the iron. Just like the rest of the ironing board, the rack is far from flimsy. It holds the iron well and the ironing board doesn’t tip over when I put the iron there even though it’s a bit heavy. I also really like that the rack is retractable, which makes the ironing board small and compact and allows for storage pretty much anywhere.

I just like to keep it in the tight space between one of my closets and the wall, and that’s it. It doesn’t take much space at all. My only complaint about the rack is that it can be hard to slide out, but that’s an inconvenience too small to keep me up at night.

Because of its weight, it’s not a problem to move it from one place to another. I can take it to the laundry room or to the TV room (sometimes I like to watch TV while ironing) and back to our room without effort.

Pros:

  • Small, lightweight, easy-to-store, even in tight places
  • Portable
  • Comes in a nice color palette
  • Has a wide surface that covers a large area of clothing
  • Just the right height for ironing on the floor
  • Easy to set up
  • The retractable iron rack is sturdy enough to hold a heavy iron
  • No more back pains and muscle strains

Cons:

  • The retractable iron rack is difficult to get out sometimes

The Verdict:

If you are tired of ironing clothes while standing up and devising a way to set up your ironing supplies without breaking a few bones, get the Honey-Can-Do BRD-01435 Collapsible Tabletop Ironing Board.
